Moving Ahead with the WYAA Facility
Development plans for the construction of the Westport Youth Athletic facility continue, with the majority of the facility’s permitting process complete. Construction plans are currently being prepared and bids will be solicited from contractors in the next few months. The project overall is very close to construction, with phase one of construction beginning as soon as funding is secured. Phase one will include roadwork, drainage, parking and soccer fields with phase two (softball fields) and phase three (baseball fields) to follow immediately as funding is available.

The current layout includes two full size soccer fields that can be subdivided to smaller fields, three softball fields, and three little league baseball fields. A playground is also included in the development plans. At least one senior league baseball field is being considered, but has not been included in the current permitting plans.

Additionally, an area has been reserved in the plans for a potential indoor basketball facility, large enough for two full size courts, concession area, conference room, and locker rooms. However, these accommodations will be put on hold, pending cost and time commitments, and held for consideration following the completion of the outdoor fields.
